Our Story
Riding Together began with a simple yet powerful idea: Cycling should be accessible and inclusive for everyone.
In 2016, the Central Coast Bicycle User Group (CCBUG) developed and launched the RidesAssist Program. With two tandems and a big dream, they offered cycling experiences to vision-impaired riders on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
In 2024, after meeting by chance, our Directors, Gary and Alan, discovered their shared passion for inclusivity and cycling and combined forces to form Riding Together.
Today, Riding Together has proudly evolved and grown into a community-driven, registered Australian charity, supporting people with physical or intellectual disabilities, or limited mobility. By providing support and assistance, we make cycling possible for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to ride.
Our goal is to promote well-being, social inclusion, and independence through community engagement and inclusive activities.

Our Reason for Being
The Riding Together community enhances well-being, fosters connections, and promotes inclusivity by providing and facilitating assisted cycling experiences. We empower individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities or limited mobility, helping them gain independence and experience the joy of cycling.
Giving: At the heart of what we do is giving—our time, effort, and passion—to enrich lives through cycling.
Caring: We genuinely care for people, supporting them on and off the bike.
Community: We’re building a strong, supportive community that expands horizons for our participants.
Inclusion: We break down barriers so that everyone can experience the freedom of riding.
“Riding Together’s efforts to create a more inclusive community are invaluable.
Thank you for your exceptional work and for sharing the joy of cycling with everyone.”
– Dan Gu, Rider
Our Motivation
The experience is just as fulfilling for our pilots. They share their passion for cycling with those who, if not for their disability, would be riding independently alongside them. Riding Together is more than just cycling—it’s about connection, shared experiences, and building a stronger, more inclusive community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to connect people who want to ride with people who can, by:
- Offering adaptive cycling programs that connect qualified pilot cyclists with individuals who are unable to cycle independently.
- Providing equipment, materials, training programs, and services to our partners to help them provide assisted cycling services.
- Collaborating with charities, government and non-government organisations, public and private entities, and individuals to fundraise and coordinate assisted cycling services.
Our Values
Inclusivity: Our team believe cycling should be accessible to everyone. We strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability or experience, feels welcome, valued, and supported in our community.
Empowerment: Our goal is to empower people by providing opportunities for physical activity, personal growth, and connection. We believe that cycling fosters confidence, independence, and resilience.
Community: We value the sense of community that cycling creates. Our activities are designed to bring people together, foster friendships, and create shared experiences.
Respect: We are committed to creating an environment where everyone is treated with respect, recognising the unique strengths and contributions of each unique person.
Collaboration: We understand the power of teamwork, both on and off the bike. We work closely with partners, supporters, and participants to achieve our shared mission of inclusive cycling.
